LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!! We Love and miss Skippers seafood 'n chowder house, stores near us closed. We found this location while on vacation, And drove an extra 1.5 hrs to get there, we'll worth it. Food, staff, environment all great. The food was fresh tasting, Perfectly cooked, Not tasting seriously greasy, It tasted very well cooked and cooked made. Which also means clean fryers, with fresh grease and we'll cared for environment. We felt so welcomed, the staff was upbeat cheerful and seemed to enjoy what they were doing that in itself was even refreshing, you don't see that much anymore, it made the visit even better. It is 3 hrs from my home but we will take that trip just to go visit these guys again.

Don't let the beat-up building and old signs fool you into not stopping by!This place is great. We were weary at first because the building needs to be painted, and the signs are old.BUT! Once you walk through the door, you're greeted with a hello and the smell of food.The food is hot & fresh. Don't burn your tongue.The service is excellent. They treated us like royalty. It's not run down. It's actually quite pleasant.

My first time at this location. The building is well worn but spotless. Chowder, fish, fries, coleslaw and tea were fantastic. Food was fast, delicious and served piping hot. Service was prompt, friendly and attentive. Will be back when I get another seafood craving.

The food is good, but the family combo is not as good as the fish and chips (different kind of fish and batter). Clam chowder, clams, Calamari, and hush puppies are All good.They accidently shorted us some fish, but they fixed it with no hassle and were very friendly.

Best service ever! The two guys that work on Saturday are so wonderful. They go out of their way to make everyone happy and could not be friendlier. Food is always great but these guys make it even better. Their service goes a long way.

The good old days....Very friendly staff but the food not near what it was years ago. Fish was triangle, processed patties. Not the hand dipped filets of old. Oh well, nothing stays the same. Still enjoyed the experience.

I first tried the drive thru, but wasn't have any luck getting someone on the speaker. I overlooked that, the same way the Kansas City Chiefs overlook MVS dropping the ball, and went inside. I was glad that I did, the staff was incredibly friendly, positive and engaging. There was a sense of community in there for sure. I placed a large order and they did a great job pushing it out in a timely manner, and double checked to make sure we got everything. Food was better than I expected, and was still hot even after I drove home. A great experience all around.

There are only a few stores left, this one in Puyallup was very nostalgic for me. And the fish and shrimp are as tasty as I remember when from the past when the restaurants were more readily available.Just one issue, the clam chowder tasted out of the pack and not enough milk or cream was added. Other than that, the food, and the two young gentlemen behind the counter were super helpful!Can't wait to return again, especially in Tuesday for their all-you-can-eat special!

Since my local Skippers has been gone for years, I thought I would make the drive to one of the few left. The food was ok, pretty much the same as it was 10+years ago, I am sad that they went back to all-you-can-eat only on Tuesday, but they had done that a long time ago, so it wasn't a surprise. But the fish is different, smaller but thicker pieces, same amount, just cut differently. The fries were pretty good, fresh and crispy.The service was phenomenal, two young men and they were VERY friendly and VERY helpful. I probably would not travel so far just to get the food again, but I might, just to enjoy the amazing customer service that is lacking in so many other places. We were there on Saturday 03/02/24 in the afternoon, steady flow of customers, but not overly busy.

Ok so it has been over 3 years since going here. Well, I read a review there were new owners & it was much better. So my wife & I were going shopping & thought we'd stop by & try it. She worked at one in Issaquah when she was a teen (I won't say how long ago since I value my life), so we went in @ 3pm on Sunday afternoon. Apparently others had read the review also because they were very busy. We had the skippers platter with shrimp, clam strips, sweet coleslaw, a piece of fish & fries. We bumped it up to a combo which gave a bowl of chowder & drink. For 2 meals it was less than $50. Next week they told us they'll be going to fresh battered fish. We highly recommend these people. The staff is friendly, helpful, & the food is hot & fresh.

I drove from Tacoma just to come at this location. I haven't had skippers for many many years. The food was fabulous. The portions were great. The gentleman that waited on us had great customer service. The gentleman's name was Austin. I will be coming back here on a regular basis. ♥️🎣

Had dinner here tonight & it had been awhile since we’d been here. Service was unbelievable! One young guy in particular who was on top of everything & extremely polite. We both had fish & chips with chowder. Both very good, loved the chowder!

This a total gem and sadly one of only a few left in the state from what I gather. The prices are reasonable, food is good and the staff is so nice! I love that they haven't updated the decor and it still has that nostalgic feeling from when I was a kid. But it's very clean and well taken care of.Also, the clam chowder is fantastic!

I used to eat at Skippers in Albany, Oregon, when I was a kid. Eating at Skippers is mostly nostalgic now. Sadly, the Skippers at Albany is gone, as are most others. So, I was thrilled to find an actual Skippers Fish and Chowder restaurant open in Puyallup, Washington. Pay them a visit, the food is good, and you can help keep a NW icon in business. You have nothing to lose and you may find a new favorite eatery.

The service was fast and friendly. I got my food served right to my table in less than 5 minutes. I ordered the lunch special: 2 fish, chips, chowder, cole slaw, and a drink for under $13. I didn't need a fork for the fish because they were easy to hold and dip with my fingers. The fish was flaky, hot, and delicious. I was allowed to have as much tarter as I want. I ate that bowl of chowder like it was ice cream. The atmosphere was comfortable and not too busy. There was relaxing music in the background. Probably will go again next week to try the grilled salmon.

Being at Skippers last night brought back childhoods memories. It’s sad that not many Skippers exist anymore. Thankfully with an incredible employee like Caleb at the Puyallup location, hopefully this one stays open! He was working solo, but had the establishment looking super clean and organized. When we walked in he immediately greeted me and my lil family and was super helpful while my husband and I were trying to figure out what to get since it’s been forever since I’ve been to skippers and he’s from San Diego so he had never been. Caleb was super attentive and patient. My husband and I ordered the ALL YOU CAN EAT DEAL they had going on TUESDAYS and the kiddos got popcorn shrimp. Everything was super delicious and fresh! Even the clam chowder was like nostalgia for me. We just moved to this side of town and are definitely coming back! I definitely recommend this place for those who are not Ivars fans. It’s definitely a whole different vibe.

I wish I would’ve gotten the guys name! He had blonde hair though! Anyways the employee let us know at opening that somebody didn’t arrive on time and that he got there to cover so he was a little behind. He had a pretty good morning rush I’d say about 7-10 people right at opening. He handled it like a champ. No attitude had great customer service made sure everybody was taken care of! The fish is good. The guys were high. I asked if the gave me extra tartar sauce, and the were like, oh yeah. Bbq, ketchup, Its all in the bag.It wasnt.So the did give me a free sprite, which was nice.Apparently out of cheese for my kids. So Im like, ok. Chicken.Laughing hilatiously. For those that frequently dined at Skippers 40 years ago, some things will be familiar and some things not so much. This location is clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. The chowder and sauces are very similar to the glory days of yesteryear. However, the fish has a similar batter but the meat is of a different type. You can't go home again...pretty good...just don't expect 1977.

Ah, this brings me back; Skippers used to be THE place to go for fish'n'chips in the Northwest. Ate many an All-You-Can-Eat as a youth, but this seems to be one of the last Skippers in existence. Have to say, the decor hasn't changed much, the chowder is still delicious, and the fish was crispy, if not a little "pre-formed" in appearance. The fries were a let down, being crinkle fries from your mom's refrigerator. The staff was super friendly, parking isn't an issue, and if you're up for dessert, Baskin and Robbins is 50 feet across the parking lot. Give them a try!

We happened to be driving around the southend and craving fish n chips. To my surprise, and absolute delight, we came across the Puyallup Skippers. Being raised in the Seattle area, Skippers was our go to fish n chips spot growing up, but they have slowly disappeared over the years. The fish and tartar sauce did not disappoint. The chowder, coleslaw and fries were as we remembered, very tasty. But, here is the cherry on top about this location... Teddy, the employee who was working that day. What an attentive, polite, and knowledgeable young man. You just don't find good customer service like that anymore. We will definitely make the 40-minute drive, again and again.

It was just before closing that we happened by. And the two young men were very kind and professional and had GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS! AND THEY GAVE US A GREAT DEAL!! I use to come to this location before the new owner took over and it was not very consistent and pretty not great. The new owner did an amazing job bringing this place around. My wife and I have stopped in a few times the last year (not a often as I would like. Because life in the way). It was great! My dad loved eating all you can eat fish and chips here. He would go quite often living so close. This was the last place my dad and I got to have lunch together before he died last November. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the Skipper's brand tartar sauce. It's too sweet for my taste. I normally bring my own if I know I'm coming here, but normally it's a spur of the moment decision and I have to use the house tartar sauce. Not a deal killer by any means. Keep up the good work! 👍🏼

You have no idea how happy I am to have found this Skipper’s! That it has AMAZING service and that signature breading on their fish, shrimp, and clams just brings me back to when I would go to Skipper’s as a kid to pick up dinner for my grandparents. My Sister and I have visited the Puyallup Skippers location on main street three times in the last couple of weeks. My Sister has cancer and craves the chowder. Every time we visit we get the best customer service I have ever had at a drive through. You have to pull up to the window to order and every time there is a cheerful happy face. Since you wait there for your order you can see whats happening behind the counter. The young men that are there are busy every minute. What a wonderful crew at this location. They need recognition, they are awesome! We will be back!

Very delicious fish. Almost melt in your mouth fish. Little breading, lots of fish, and came very hot. For one of the few surviving Skippers I know of, they still do it right. Friendly staff and great food, go visit and enjoy your meal.

Glad to see a Skippers still going strong! ❤ the only thing that I would say that could be improved is on one of my visits before I realized the all you can eat is offered every day I ordered a four-piece fish and chips and chowder and it was 1699 the all-you-can-eat is 1499 the young lady who rang me up should have said something that's just good customer service in my opinion it was my fault as well for not seeing it but she seemed more in a hurry to get me rang up so she could go back to being on her phone

The very best chowder!!! Drive thru window process definitely needs to be updated and fixed. Order times aren't fast enough to just keep people waiting in line.( Maybe have customers pull around after they've ordered) only possible complaint! Grew up on skippers. The Two young men that worked 3/15/21 were outstanding . The Store was super busy and under staffed and yet these two preformed their job courteous and professionally. 4 out of 5 stars only because of the wait time for food. Overall experience excellent! Unbelievable, since the new owner took over you can truly tell he wants you to really enjoy your experience 110%. The table's are not gross and sticky anymore and he has an unbelievable staff, I will return again and again just to be treated that well.
